What inspired us. And continues to inspire us to this day.

A belief in good ideas, the motivation to make life better, and team spirit – that is the DNA of Regel-air®. It is embedded in every product that leaves our company on its way to the customer.

A vision for life.

In the period following German reunification, buildings became increasingly densely packed as a result of new construction and renovation. Poor indoor air quality and mould growth were the result. Company founder Heinz Becks saw this as the problem he wanted to solve. His vision for a better life. This vision was so strong that, at the age of 65, Heinz Becks decided against retirement and instead chose to set up a company with his wife, Christel Becks – full of conviction and passion. This marked the birth of the window rebate vent.

One man. One idea. One solution.

It all began with the garden shed in Geldern. The few square metres behind his house were enough for Heinz Becks to bring an idea to life that now enables anyone to ensure a pleasant indoor climate permanently with just a few simple steps.

The company’s founder created the first window rebate venti – and thus the basis for today’s Regel-air® vents – through painstaking manual and detailed work, using plastic parts filed into shape and held together with superglue.

Even back then, through numerous thought experiments and test runs, the core operating principle of two independent flaps emerged – a system that now efficiently regulates the supply of fresh air and prevents draughts. Even in the face of minor setbacks, the team did not waver in their determination to pursue the idea, demonstrating character traits that continue to shape the company’s values to this day: perseverance and a firm belief that good ideas deserve to be brought to life.

The passion of yesteryear, the spark of enthusiasm – these are at the heart of Regel-air®. They are embodied in the management team, in the four shareholders, and in each of the approximately 15 employees.

All the corporate values that characterise Regel-air® have developed over time with great care. They are an expression of a philosophy that puts people at the heart of every decision – whether they are customers or employees.

A life-saving side effect

Heinz Becks’ vigorous efforts to ensure a greater supply of fresh air have had a side effect that has, in some cases, saved lives: in homes with gas boilers or wood-burning stoves, an adequate supply of fresh air was often not guaranteed in the years following reunification.

Combustion consumed oxygen, resulting in life-threatening carbon monoxide poisoning. People died.

With the window rebate vents, this life-threatening danger is transformed into a manageable challenge.

Regel-air® History

1999

With decades of experience in the window industry, the founding of ENBEMA Becks GbR – headquartered in Geldern-Walbeck – by Heinz & Christel Becks marked the starting point.

Even back then, the company’s business focus was on vents.

In the same year, the company developed and filed a patent application for the first window rebate vent that automatically responds to wind pressure for PVC window. Type Regel-air® KA (for the rebate gasket system) & Type Regel-air® KM (for the centre pgasket system)

2002

Development & patent application for the Regel-air® window rebate vent H for wooden windows – Type 14 (for retrofitting into existing windows)

2005

Development of the Regel-air® window rebate vent H for wooden windows – Type 24 (for factory installation).

Development & patent application for the Regel-air® ÜL overlap vent

2008

Development of the Regel-air® window rebate vent for wood-aluminium windows Type 23 H/A

2009

Development & patent application for the Regel-air® window rebate vent RF (also for vertical installation)

2011

Company name changed to Regel-air Becks GmbH & Co. KG, as it exists today

2013

Construction of and relocation to the new company headquarters in Geldern-Walbeck, featuring its own window test rig

2015

Launch of the new Regel-air® FORTE ventilation system for high air volumes

2016

Launch of the new Regel-air® SL sliding vent with a more understated design

2018

Establishment of the company’s own sales department and online shop

Launch of the Regel-air® calculation tool

2020

Launch of the new Regel-air® ventilation system for wood and wood-aluminium windows FFLHmax for high air volumes

2021

Introduction to the new Regel-air® FFL-uni – The universal vent for all window materials

2023

Launch of the new Regel-air® FFL-m ventilation system for PVC windows

Company founder Heinz Becks celebrates his 90th birthday and the company’s 25th anniversary

2024

Launch of the new Regel-air® ventilation system FFL-quick (a further development of the FFL-uni) for PVC and wooden windows

2025

Presentation of the new Regel-air® ventilation system FFL-smart for PVC windows - fitting-independent & suitable for process-optimised manufacturing

Sustainable with the region.

What began as genuine handcraft has now become fine craftsmanship. It’s all about quality and sustainability. The region is at the heart of this. Regel-air® was founded in the Lower Rhine region, not far from the border with the Netherlands. This is where the company has its roots and where it finds the best conditions to meet its own ‘Made in Germany’ quality standards. Close cooperation with regional partners shortens transport routes and thus conserves resources.
